Reality beckons

It's probably the case that when you have finally got round to the one job you promised yourself you wouldn't duck our of during your extended break, it is about time to head back into the work place. In my case it's clearing out the show cupboard. I know this shouldn't be such a big thing but its one of those jobs I've thought about getting around to for about the last 2 years and can just never sum up the energy. I woke up the other day though and though 'today is the day'. I was so proud of myself (while being a little bit stunned at just how many pairs of barely used football boots we seem to have accumulated -we don't even like football in this family!) I lined them all up outside and then got everyone to be really ruthless about what they actually wear and what could go. In the end it only took a couple of hours to sort, hoover and replace. After all that procrastination! It did feel very good afterwards and I can start my new job knowing I'

And...relax!

Ah, what a lovely week. Despite the after effects of the school flu bug making me feel slightly under par all week, its been a lovely week of doing exactly what I want, when I want. This has meant a trip to Mum and Dad's (on my own - what a luxury!), a massage, some extra yoga and lots and lots of fresh air. This week also brought my leaving do at work which I've not been looking forward to particularly. I'm not one for being the centre of attention, and I always think that no-one will bother turning up to something that's about me, so the idea of an evening that is all about me is a bit scary in reality. I went up to London on the 9am train, which reminded me I hate doing later trains, definitely something to remember in a few weeks! They are always compromised - this was 3 carriages instead of 6 - and full of people who don't do the commute every day and so are a bit out of sorts with the journey. I then had a whole day of catching up with lovely people, inclu

Sunshine & snow!

Weather wise it's been a real week of extremes, with glorious sunshine at the start of the week and then some of the heaviest snowfalls in South East memory at the end - must be Britain! It's also been a week of ups and downs with this lurgy that's been going around. Poor Abi had to take Monday and Tuesday off school, begging to go back through a combination of boredom and fear that she would miss out on the Year 7 sports tour, only to have the tour cancelled due to the number of kids off ill and the impending weather warnings. It does seem a bit unfair, the boys have been on a couple of trips away and this was the only one planned for the girls and they've missed out. At least going back to an all girls school that won't happen I guess. Both girls couldn't wait to get out into the snow, making the most of it while it was still pristine. On Thursday evening despite a day of beautiful sunshine the clouds started to come in and then the snow began to fal
