I know though experience that our girls are unfailingly honest and just say what they see. The filters clearly come later and have to be taught. So they have learnt not to call out the old person or the person with the wild dress sense, but unfortunately such filters don't appear to count for those of us closer to home. Abi arrives at the kitchen table this morning, takes one look at me and asks "are you really wearing those trousers to work?" This was followed quickly with "they look like the trousers Fifi wears to do the animals". Ouch. Needless to say I went upstairs and got changed. In their defence they also react positively when they feel it is warranted - I came downstairs last week to comments of "perfect" from Abi and "beautiful" from Izzy - how to make Mummy feel amazing!
The house is progressing in fits and starts and pre-Easter holidays we are having a push on decorating. This means the entire contents of the living room and playroom are in the dining room and Abi is happily ensconced in the spare room. While this isn't perfect for Scooby, whose bed is squashed amongst the mountain of toys the girls possess, or Bella, whose cage is perched on 2 radiator cabinets, Abi is in heaven. The spare room has a kingside bed and this means that Abi can share her bed with Enormous Monkey and he gets his own pillow and 'room to move around'... I have been clear this isn't a permanent arrangement but I'm not sure she's listening! Izzy on the other hand is currently saying she's only moving out of her room if her bed comes too - she is a girl who loves her bed!
We are looking forward to a few days away at the end of the month having despaired of the weather earlier in the year and booked a holiday to Crete. Typically now the sun is beginning to show its face here I'm not so desperate to get away but it will be great to get some sun and have a private pool that the girls can spend loads of time in. Just have to cross our fingers that the sun is out! This will be the first time Izzy has flown at all, and the first time Abi will realise she's flying. Izzy is looking forward to it - she sees it as a chance to plug herself into her iPad and watch 'Call the Midwife'. Abi on the other hand is worried she'll be scared of the height and her ears will hurt. Once again Abi is the thoughtful one while Izzy blazes through and will address any hurdles as and when she meets them. On that note how many other 5 year olds would cite their favourite programme to be Call the Midwife?!
An Izzy funny to finish on; We were talking about things we might want and Izzy gave it some thought and said "a third leg Mummy". "What on earth would you do with 3 legs?" I replied. "I'd sniff it" says Izzy. Weirdo!
